ABOUT OUR KARATE CLUB

Ruddington Shotokan Karate Club has been established for over 40 years. The Club has developed methods that are close to the traditional Japanese way, with strict discipline to encourage a good training atmosphere. Training is tailored to age and ability, with no martial arts experience required.

There is a friendly family atmosphere at our club, which allows you to participate without feeling overwhelmed or inadequate.  Everyone can benefit from karate training and we encourage parents and children to train together as a family.

CLUB CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

My first experience of Karate was, when living near Manchester in the late 1970s, I trained in Shukokai for a couple of years . On moving back to Nottingham in the early 1980s I then tried Sankukai, again for just a couple of years.  Whilst both are good styles they didn’t keep my interest.  In the early 1990s my youngest daughter started training at the RSKC and I asked the Chief Instructor if he thought I was too old to start again and he encouraged me to give it a go – 30 years later I am still here training twice a week.  Shotokan is an excellent style with a wide variety of elements to suit all. RSKC is a welcoming family club with members both male and female aged from six plus up to mid seventies.  It is a pleasure to help in training different students and see them grow and develop over the years.  Karate is ideal for maintaining both physical and mental fitness.
